This page lists all of the blankets that we are currently working on. If you would like to pledge squares for a blanket, please e-mail that blanket’s supervisor and let her know how many squares you would like to pledge and to which blanket. Blanket totals are updated weekly. Each blanket’s “stats” can be seen in the sidebar on each page of this blog. Email addresses for supervisors can be found on the “Contact Us” page. Please do not leave comments with your pledges on this page. Moderators will no longer check the comments for pledges.
For Julie
Julie met our very own Melinda in the hospital. She is one of the nurses who take care of Melinda during her stay. When she saw Melinda knitting a blanket square, they began to discuss the project. It was then that Melinda learned of Aiden, Julie’s grandson. Aiden was lost to SIDS when he was just a few months old. We would like to bring some comfort to his family. We are collecting 36 8×8″ squares in blues and greens. Please email traceyATschuylersblanketsDOTorg with your pledge. Thank you for your help.

Melissa’s daughter, Calypso, died after 23 days in the NICU. Although she had started to rally, she developed an infection that the doctors could not cure. Melissa started a blanket in honor of Calypso and has asked for our help in finishing it. We are collecting 36 8×8″ squares in shades of blue. Please be sure the squares are washable. If you would like to pledge squares to this blanket, please contact tammanyATschuylersblanketsDOTorg. Thank you!

In memory of Isabelle:
Isabelle was almost three when she suffered a febrile seizure and died. Isabelle had been healthy and vibrant. Her death came as shock to all who knew and loved her. Isabelle’s parents have started a blog to document their journey. They have also started a charity organization in honor of Isabelle. It is called Bubbles for Isabelle. Won’t you help us comfort Isabelle’s parents by making an 8″x8″ square in her memory? Squares should be washable. Isabelle’s favorite color was pink. Please contact jeniferATschuylersblanketsDOTorg to make your pledge. Thank you.

For Mary
Mary has suffered five miscarriages in six pregnancies. She was such a source of inspiration and strength for Heather, who recently received a Schuyler blanket, that Heather wanted to offer her some comfort in return. Heather has requested a blanket for Mary whose favorite colors are blues and purples. Please use soft, washable fibers for this blanket. The deadline is September 30, 2011. You may email traceyATschuylersblanketsDOTorg to contribute to this blanket.

For Sarah:
Sarah is a long time contributor to the Schuyler Blanket Project. She has made many, many squares for the families who have received one of our blankets. Unfortunately, Sarah now has need of a blanket for herself as she recently suffered a miscarriage. Please help us give back to Sarah. We are collecting 48 6×6″ squares in bright colors for this blanket. Please use soft, washable fibers. The deadline is September 30, 2011. hi there. i’d like to contribute a square to victoria. thanks.
Thank you, Suzanne! I will email you my mailing address so you can send your square when it’s ready!
Serendipitous that I found this site (from a link on SouleMama’s blog). The only things I can knit are squares! I would like to start making some. All the stories above were so heartwrenching…I can’t even pick one to pledge for, so if it’s okay, I think I will just start knitting some squares and let you choose where to put them, once I’ve done them and mailed them to you.
Let me know the address, thanks!
P.S. So…I’m guessing color is not an issue? You just knit whatever color/design you choose, and do the blankets end up being like a patchwork quilt?
(Happy New Year!)
Does the pattern or color of the squares matter? I have a lot of baby soft acrylic yarn that I would like to use. I would love to knit a square or 2 for Nicholas’ twin sister. I picked the farthest day out to make sure that I can get them done in time. *blush*
Thank you, Kristen! I will get your contact information to the blanket’s sponsor. As far as I know, the colors and patterns do not matter for this blanket.
Thank you again. It means so much to me that there are so many people willing to help with this project. I know it will bring some comfort to Nicholas and his parents.
Oh, also, the email address that is connected with my post I don’t use anymore. You can reach me at yarngeek12ATyahooDOTcom. Thanks.
I would like to contribute some squares to Jana and Steve for their awaited baby girl. Thanks very much.
Sarah, thank you so much for offering a square to Jana, Steve, and their daughter. Unfortunately, all the squares needed for that blanket have already been pledged. Is there another blanket to which you’d be willing to contribute? Thank you so much!
I could do the last two squares for Heather and Taylor if that’s ok. Thanks.
Wonderful! I will send your contact information to the blanket sponsor. She will let you know where to send your squares! Thank you so much!
My friend, Michelle, sent me an e-mail just a couple of days ago to ask for help with the squares for her blanket. Thank you so much for your thoughtful project. I have written to Michelle personally, to tell her that I have squares for her, but I would also be interested in helping you to get more squares for the blankets that are lacking them. It looks like you have several blankets that are in need of additional squares and some of them are behind on their deadlines.
Please contact me directly and let me know if there are special color requirements on one or more of the blankets and whether the squares need to be solid (in color) or should use a combination of colors. Also, please provide me with information about where to send the squares.
I have already sent an e-mail to Michelle, but if I do not hear back from her – I will need to know where to send her squares.
Thank you again for providing this opportunity. Your project has come as an answer to my own prayers. On November 11th I had open heart surgery. I am 47 years old and it has been quite frustrating not to be able to participate in many of my “normal” activities. I felt sad that I just couldn’t seem to find the motivation to take on a large project, but an 8″ square is something I can do. I appreciate the chance to help more than you can imagine.
Susan
I need the address of the sponsor for Juan’s blanket. I have some squares that I need to get mailed out. Thanks again for doing this for him. He will love it!!!
Michelle, I will let her know that you need it and have her email you as soon as possible!
Can I please have the information for the person putting together the blanket for Steve & Laurie (due date: June 30th). It looks like they are still in need of
squares and I have some squares that are pink (I think that qualifies as a girly color!). Unless you know that they have gotten what they need and then I could
send them to another blanket that could use them…
Thanks,
Susan
I will make matching squares for Melissa and Owen. I know the pain of losing a baby myself, and want to help.
Pat, I am very sorry for your loss. It breaks my heart every time I hear of one more lost baby.
I will pass on your information to Melinda, the woman who is sponsoring this blanket. She will be able to tell you where to send your squares.
Thank you so much for helping with our project.
I would like the sponsor of the blanket in memory of Andy,
for Al and Jolene to contact me. Could you please forward
them my e-mail address and ask them to please let me know
an update on how many squares they have/need and where
to send them.
Thanks,
Susan
Susan, this blanket already has a sponsor, but I have added you to the list of people who are willing to sponsor. I will let you know as soon as a need for your skills arises! Thanks so much!
schuylersmama:
I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear in my post. The truth is that I would be more than happy to sponsor a blanket and so keep my name on your list, but what
I wanted was for you to give my e-mail address to the sponsor of that blanket because it looks like they haven’t gotten any squares (unless we are just behind in updating). I wanted to find out what they need to help them get that blanket done. Or if you have another blanket/sponsor with whom you’d like me to work. That would be fine too. I have been busy with Christmas and my husband’s birthday, but now I will have some time to make squares before you begin new blankets and I could help out. Thanks – sorry about the mix-up.
Susan, no problem. I’m sorry I misunderstood, but I will definitely add you to the list of sponsors. I’m actually sponsoring the blanket for Al and Jolene. I know that I have received some squares, but I am behind in updating the site. I definitely need more for them though. Al and Jolene’s daughter in law is the one that requested a blanket for them. She asked for simple squares in neutral colors. She said that Andy lived his life simply and she would like the blanket to reflect that. I think you still have my address because I received a package from you recently. Those crocheted squares are beautiful! Let me know if you need anything else from me! Thanks again for all of your help!
Sending you 5 squares for the blanket for Al and Jolene in memory
of Andy by the end of the week – 1/21/2011.
Will probably send along some other too.
I just noticed the blanket for Antoinette (don’t know why I
didn’t see it before). Could you use some help with that one.
Antoinette appears to be a friend of my friend, Michelle and
her child was lost on my daughter’s birthday. That day is coming
up – I would really like to see that project finished. Who is the
sponsor? No reason for me to send the squares to you if the
blanket itself is closer to my home…Thanks!
Susan, You should be hearing from a woman named Amy. She is sponsoring Antoinette’s blanket. She’ll let you know how many squares she still needs and where to send them. Thanks again for your dedication to this project! Peace, Tammany
Did the box get to you okay?
