Happy 2011! I hope everyone is having a safe, cozy winter. The weather here has been perfect for staying inside and knitting. I am slowly working my way through all my works in progress. I’m hoping to have bare needles in another month or so.

Some progress has been made with The Schuyler Blanket Project as well. I am very excited to say that we are now accepting requests for blankets. We have made some changes that will help ensure that each blanket receives the appropriate care and attention. This means that the wait time may be longer, but the pain of losing  a child lasts a lifetime. In fact, sometimes the hardest days come months or years later when it seems that the rest of the world has forgotten your precious baby. For more information about requesting a blanket, please see the appropriate section on our “Get Involved” page.

Unfortunately, we are still behind on our current blankets. Nearly all of them are lacking enough squares. We’ve tried to make it easier for you to pledge squares to blankets as well. On the right hand side of this page, you will see a box labeled “Blanket Stats.” This box will be updated weekly and includes the due date, number of squares pledged, number of squares received by the sponsor, and the number of squares still needed to complete the blanket. There is also a name in parenthesis after each listing. This is the blanket’s supervisor. To pledge to a particular blanket, simply email that blanket’s supervisor. She will give you contact information for the sponsor and make sure that your pledges are added to our totals. If you would like to read more about each family, you can still do that on the “Blankets in Progress” page.

Another way to get involved is to sponsor a blanket. We’ve made that easier too! You’ll find everything you need to know on the “Get Involved” page.

I’m so thrilled to get things moving again. There are even more developments happening behind the scenes. If you’d like to keep up to date, you can subscribe to this blog, find us on Facebook, or join us on Ravelry.
